I blog because I love to journal. When Jason and I were dating I journaled about those days, good and bad - what a hoot it has been to go back and read it. When I was pregnant with my little ones I tried to keep a journal about some of the pregnancy and then I journaled the "birth story" while I was still in the hospital and it was fresh in my mind - I cherish that journal.
Unfortunately, in the chaos of raising kids, I didn't journal all their cute sayings or all their stories, but I did send out e-mails to family and friends about once or twice a week to tell what was going on and I still have all those e-mails in a notebook.
Now, I blog!
I saw this article on blogging and felt I needed to share. I'm not doing a prize drawing, but I would like to know who is out there. In the article, it mentioned that only 2.5% of visitors to her blog actually comment, I don't even know how to find that statistic?

You have to have a stat counter on your site somewhere. (Set it to ignore your own visits though.) It's pretty easy to set up and there are a few different ones out there.
ReplyDeleteI don't know if you read all of the comments on Amanda's post but I mentioned to her that I often/usually only have about 1% that say anything. The most irritating was a day a week or so ago, over 400 hits and 2 comments. It is what it is - don't let it get to you.

ReplyDeleteAND--if you subscribe to your own blog on Google Reader, you can see your statistics of how many people "follow" your blog, hits per day, etc.

ReplyDeleteI check your blog, but I am subscribed to it on google reader, so I am rarely on the site. I enjoy hearing about the family- both yours and the extended one. I am glad that despite my distance I still have an idea of how quickly the kids are growing up and what activities and such they are involved in. Heidi
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering how you have time to keep up your blog. I am keeping mine for "the sake of having a journal", but I am always weeks behind. I still post them though, even weeks late, because I want them in the blog. How do you have time? Actually I wonder how you have time to do 90% of the things you do. You are amazing!!!! I love you!
ReplyDeletei read almost all of your blogs! i have a journal i keep by my bed and if aaron did anything especially funny during the day i write it down. i don't put them all on the blog because i worry people get sick of hearing stories! to some people it's just normal stuff every kid does at this age, but to me it's all firsts and it's so cute.

ReplyDeleteI just found your blog a couple of weeks ago, but I check it every few days and read the updates. Love the pics and hearing the fun your kiddos are having. Chase also gets a kick out of seeing his picture on here. When we found it, we went back and looked at some of the history and even found pics from his birthday party!
